The Colorful World Of Nail Baba

He has such a place in children’s hearts that one cannot help appreciating and admiring him. We did not know how to name this as to whether it's a profession or a social responsibility project. How the successful Youtuber has created an emotional bond and conquered the world of minors... Here is the colourful world of Nail Baba (Nail the Father)…
We know you as Nail Baba. Can you tell us about your other sides that we do not know?
I was born in Milas in 1981. I finished elementary school in Feslegen Village where I spent my childhood. Due to the limited educational opportunities in the village where I lived, I was educated in different cities as a boarder student. After Okan University, I completed my education at Nisantasi University. My profession is paramedics. However, my current occupation is to produce fun video contents for kids. I am co-founder and CEO of BoMedia which is for this purpose. I am also a player of videos for children. I have a YouTube channel called Nail Baba and videos on which I have shown acting performances on the channel which is displayed by minors. I am married and a father to which I have daughter and a son.
Does Nail Baba name have a story?
Nail Baba name first appeared when I was experiencing the great fatherly feelings after our first child Arseny was born. I suppose, because of my approach to children like other fathers, my wife nicknamed me this name. Afterwards, it became the name for the YouTube channel and then for the other social media accounts such as Facebook and Instagram.
The development of technology and the increasing use of the Internet are important factors for children to access social media easily. In fact, I started this business with my precious wife Mila, shooting narrated videos with toys for our own children. We realised that the demands of our own children actually applies to all children. We noticed that the videos we wanted to keep as memorial videos on YouTube had been liked by a serious audience of kids. We started off making our children watch our ideas first. Later on, many children started to watch the contents. We have continued to produce such contents.
Due to the name, which was given to the channel, the children now know me as "Nail Baba". I felt strange at first, but now I have adopted this nickname. I should also point out that it is not just me who takes part in that children enjoy the contents of the channel Nail Baba. There is a crowded production team of large-hearted people on the kitchen side of the business, struggling to convey the most perfect and accurate messages to children. This production team not only provides productions for Nail Baba's channel but also produces an average of ten episodes of video production per day. These videos are being shown on the growing number of more than 20 YouTube channel networks.
Why did you leave the paramedic profession?
Actually, I think that I have not really left my Paramedic job. If the definition of health is being in a state of full physical, mental and social well-being, I think that I am partially effective in producing contents for health according to this definition. In my opinion, it is a crucial part of health to have a pleasant life for children. We are trying to set a good example and give positive social messages via our videos, on one hand by touching their wounds to heal, on the other hand by pleasing them greatly.
What kind of contents do you share via your channel that has more than 300,000 subscribers?
As in the Nail Baba channel, in all the channels that we provide content, we are trying to share videos, which contain tutorial messages with discourse, visual and behaviour, for children. We have done 5,500 video productions containing family-child, fun and education messages since we started two years ago.
How do you assess your time with your kids?
In general, I spend time with my children to be productive for them. I try to convey things, what they can encounter in nature, with descriptive information especially when their visual perception is still most obvious. In my opinion, if the subject is a child, the first rule of establishing positive interaction with a child is to be cheerful. When an authoritarian attitude towards children is exhibited, it distracts them from being questioning individuals.
Let us talk about the effect that you have on children. What makes your contents different from cartoons?
Children meet with different objects, shapes, events, colours, environments, smells and many other things in their growth process. Everything they meet for the first time is an unknown for them. I think that the feeling that arises from the unknown is fear.
We must first be interested in our children in order to mention the effect of our job on children. We strive to offer the same value to all children on producing contents, in principle. They say hello with catching colours and voices in the world. Thus begins our duty to identify the colours and sounds. We emphasise them in many of our videos. We try to tell the unknowns in the gentlest way, both by making it funny and appealing. We create the visual composition with toys, which are the most attractive objects for them. Therefore, we keep their perceptions clear.
Cartoon production takes a long time, thus it is inconvenient to create new contents constantly. If I have to give an example from my own children, they get bored if they watch the same cartoons.
I am of the opinion that, video contents for children and cartoons truly contain descriptive factors and educational details for child development. In this direction, I think that the video contents we have produced have similar basic elements with cartoons if we keep the visual conditions apart.
Our teammates working in the same logic direction are also able to create topics and bring out contents for cartoons. We can give examples of the cartoons such as "Truck Leo" on "Happy Child" channel and "Four Little Cars" on "Bebeturk" channel on YouTube.
What do you think of today's children's imprisonment on the internet and social media?
With technology making life easier, street games seem to be kept in the background. In our childhood, playing many games such as tip-cat, hide and seek and hopscotch outdoors was the peak of having fun for a child at that time. In the conditions of the present, I perceive the response of childhood as having a pleasant time using technological devices. Nevertheless, we still want to not forget our own childhood.
We perform videos that we play outdoors and have fun and we foster interest to make the children take a break from technology.
Do you have a message for the parents?
To avoid missed moments that you will never get back, love your children. Allocate time as much as you can for your children. They grow up so quickly.
